MANY thanks to BWCI Group for sponsorship of the Guernsey Camerata Orchestra. On 5 February at St James, we attended a superb children's concert. It was a sell-out. The music was brilliantly chosen and included well-known works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart and Bizet. The children were enraptured, tapping their feet and clapping - some dancing in the aisles. After the interval, a real treat welcomed us - Peter and the Wolf, by Prokofiev. The narrator, Jenny Kendall-Tobias, provided just the right presence to hold everyone's attention. Nick Davies, the conductor, was perfect and a natural communicator to the children, giving them, I'm sure, an introduction to and interest in live classical music concerts which will last for the rest of their lives. We Guernsey people are very fortunate to have so many gifted people providing us with such enjoyment. For me, the cherry on the cake was the programme, designed by my granddaughter, Penny Dawes, eight (she won the competition). So, thanks again to all concerned. More please. How about a children's Christmas concert, BWCI?
